Today, in our 2hrs session, we finish the discussion on relationship with our kids with the promise to ourselves that we would try a positive discipline instead of a negative punishment. In small steps, we will try one change at a time.
Then, by vote, we decided to move on to "relationship w/our partners" - This will be our next week session discussion.
Awesome topic. As a young single mom, my sons 26 now, I too struggled with disciplining him. My mother she was wonderful but a few occasions she would ask me to go find something to woop me with. Ofcourse, brought back something light as a feather which didn't work well for me. So that experience influenced the way I responded to my son. Yet, I learn through being a part of PARENTS AS TEACHERS program in St Louis, education and life experience that negative discipline was counterproductive to nurturing my son growth. Great job Bloom representatives : -)
ReplyDeleteThanks Denise,
ReplyDeleteIt's truly up to us to brake the bad link by deciding to take out the negatives that have been passed on to us, and replace them with new, positives alternatives that we gain through education or re-education as you did. Thank you for your contribution.
